Womens Shoes Dance - Dance Shoes Ballet about

Introduction to Ballet Dance shoes
It is the case that most professional ballet dancers have quite a number of dance shoes for the work that they do. These would include ballet slippers and pointe shoes which have to be made with a specialised to box to enable the difficult pointe work that professional dancers have to perform. The most popular colour is pink, then white and black.
The distinguishing characteristics of pointe shoes are the sole and the shank. The shank is a particular type of insole which can be made from either leather, burlap, plastic or cardstock and can be of varying length and thickness. Some dancers wear more than one kind for different performance styles. The sole which is often a single piece of leather, is sewn into the material of the shoe and is well hidden. This sole is designed to accent the dancers foot. The shoes are usually held on to the foot by silk ribbons tied round the ankle. Drawstrings or elastic type bands can also be used. It is possible to purchase ballet shoes without the ribbons or elastic bands. These can be bought on their on and sewn on. Some ballet shoes have a split in their soles giving greater flexibility
Then there are ballet slippers that are designed for softer floor and studio work. The lighter kind of ballet dance shoes are made from suede leather or canvas. and have a split in their soles to give a tactile feel and greater flexibility. When pointe work is not required, dancers will wear these shoes for practise. The uppers of the shoe are sometimes dyed to the same color as the costume.
Because of the way they are made, ballet dance shoes are sized differently to conventional shoes. Different manufacturers may also have slight differences between each other. They are designed to be a snug fit on the foot without rubbing or hindering the circulation.
